16 Gifts to Give Yourself This Year
I'm all about self love, so I figured for my first official gift guide of the season, I'd share some great presents for the most important person in your life – you! Because you can't help others without first helping yourself, or something. Or at the very least, maybe this will give you a good idea of some things to add to your own Christmas lists. (Not that it's all about the presents... but let's be real here, folks, gift giving is a pretty great holiday tradition!)
For the blogger
The Instax Mini instant camera is both fun to play with and oh-so-Instagrammable, making it a lifestyle blogger's dream. I think I've been asking for one of these for Christmas for like 3 years and haven't gotten one yet, so maybe it's time to treat myself, hm?
Along those same lines, every blogger knows the struggle of trying to take good photos post-Daylight Savings Time. If the lack of natural light has you scrambling, why not try a good light kit? Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for a semi-professional setup and it'll do wonders for your blog photos.
For the adventurer
A plane ticket to somewhere new is always a solid gift for yourself if you can afford it. Besides, they say it's best to spend money on travel and experiences than material items, so there you go.
If your budget isn't quite up to a new adventure yet, try out this cute and quirky travel journal to reminisce about all the places you have been - and maybe start planning for your next trip when you get the time & money!
For the fashionista
A subscription box is absolutely the gift that keeps on giving. There are tons to choose from for all sorts of interests, like Birchbox, Stitch Fix or Popsugar Must Have. My current favorite is Underclub, which sends you high quality designer undergarments each month. I love it because it's not something you think about, but a great pair of undies or a gorgeous bralette can seriously brighten your mood. I got my first month for free and I'm 100% sold!
For the beauty lovers, Sephora's advent calendars are legendary. This year's is adorably pink and festive and features the cutest little woodland creatures I've ever seen. I'm just not sure I'd be able to stop myself from ripping each one open the minute I got it...
For the homebody
I'm seriously obsessed with candles, and I think they make for an instant cozy atmosphere in any room. I recently received my first P.F. Candle Co. candle from Magnolia Rifle (thanks Taylor!) and I was instantly hooked. I got Amber + Moss, but this Spruce one seems beyond perfect for the holiday season.
If you have any interest whatsoever in home decor, then chances are you already know all about Chip and Joanna Gaines' line with Target. The Fixer Upper stars recently released a gorgeous line of home decor, accessories, and what have you, and this cozy blanket is the perfect affordable addition to your living space.
For the free spirit
Justina Blakeney, the genius behind The Jungalow, has released a new book that's perfect for any boho babes or free spirits. The New Bohemians Handbook will show you some incredible inspo from the best boho abodes around the blogosphere, plus teach you exactly how to get good vibes in your own space.
Macrame wall hangings are all the rage right now, but instead of buying one for like $300 (yikes) why not make your own? This kit comes with everything you need to create your own woven masterpiece for wayyyyy less than a pre-made one. Plus, that sense of accomplishment will be way more satisfying than just buying one from Urban Outfitters.
For the foodie
The minute I heard about instant pots I wanted one, because they're somehow crockpots for the exceptionally lazy. Like, I'm literally too lazy to cook something for 8 hours, I'd rather just cook it for like 2 and call it good. It's that bad. But these things can do just about anything, from my understanding. What more could you need?
I'm pretty sure everyone here knows how much I love Elsie and Emma from A Beautiful Mess. And they are coming out with a new cookbook (it launches tomorrow!) that's all about a totally doable healthy eating challenge with plenty of scrumptious recipes and, if I know anything about them, tons of gorgeous photography.
For the music lover
I'm pretty sure at this point, 90% of my Instagram feed features either my record player or a vinyl record of some sort. What can I say, they're aesthetically pleasing. If you love music, then it's time to get yourself a record player. The Crosley Cruiser is always a safe bet, plus it comes in like 1000 different colors and styles. I've got my eye on this maroon velvet number from Urban Outfitters.
And since it's 2017 and music is all about digital streaming now, it's probably a good idea to invest in a great pair of headphones. I didn't set much stock in super fancy headphones until I tried my boyfriend's noise cancelling Bose headphones on the plane back from Boston and discovered a whole new (mostly silent) world. Truly life-changing.
For the mixologist
Okay, I'll admit this one is a bit on the pricey side, BUT if you're into craft beer, it has your name written all over it. Give yourself the gift of a new beer every day in December with the craft beer advent calendar. You can purchase one already filled from a lot of places (like this one from my home state!) or you could probably DIY your own and maybe save some money.
This absolutely gorgeous rose gold barware setfrom Target is a dream. It comes complete with a cocktail strainer, double jigger, ice scoop and bottle opener so it's perfect for creating any sort of holiday cocktails.
